How this calculator works
Carbonation depends on the target CO2 level, beer temperature and whether you are bottle conditioning, keg priming or force carbonating.
For priming, the tool estimates how much CO2 remains in the beer and then calculates the sugar needed to reach the target.
For force carbonation, it converts the target carbonation level and beer temperature into a regulator pressure.
Worth knowing
- Use the warmest fermentation temperature for residual CO2, not just the current cellar temperature.
- Check bottle pressure ratings before targeting high carbonation levels.
